A fine Louis XVI patinated and gilt bronze oil lamp representing the allegory La Philosophie, depicted as a classical male figure seated and writing on a small writing board. The figure rests upon an antique-inspired lamp with a gadrooned gilt body and circular foot on a square base.
Attributed to Pierre-Philippe Thomire, after a model by Simon-Louis Boizot originally created for the Sèvres Manufactory.
