FRANÇOIS LINKE (1855–1946)

François Linke Vitrine, Index No. 38 — Paris, circa 1890
A refined Louis XV-style vitrine by François Linke, recorded in Linke’s workshop archives as Index No. 38, representing one of the most celebrated early compositions of the maker.
Executed in Paris around 1890 in kingwood veneers, enriched with finely chased gilt-bronze mounts of exceptional quality. The top is fitted with striking Travertino Giallo / Travertino Dorato marble, whose natural tonal variations complement the warmth of the wood.
The curved panels, sculptural ormolu ornamentation, and elegant proportions demonstrate Linke’s mastery in merging 18th-century French grace with the Belle Époque aesthetic.
Signed “F. Linke.”
